A horseback safari at the Lion & Safari Park is more than just a ride through the bush; it’s a truly unique and all-encompassing safari experience. The African scenery embraces you entirely on horseback.
On arrival you will make your way to sign in at reception. You will then be met by one of our Safari guides, and taken up to our horses. You will meet your trail guide here, who will introduce you to your horse, fit your helmet, and take you off on your adventure for a one-hour horse ride to the main centre restaurant, with spectacular views, and wildlife on the way. Your horses will wait for you and rest while you enjoy lunch at our Wetlands Restaurant. After an hour break, you will head back on horseback for another hour ride to our base camp.
After your ride, you will be escorted in the Safari vehicle back to reception.
This in total is a 3 hour experience, with the actual riding being 2 hours seperated with an hour lunch.
NB: Please arrive 30 minutes before your horse safari start. We cannot keep the horses or other riders waiting. The trail leaves at exactly the time booked, so you need to be on the horses and ready to go at booking time.
*Please note- that on no trails do we gallop our horses whatsoever.
You are to stay behind our guide at all times for the safety of our horses and the guests.
*WEIGHT LIMIT: 85kg MAX. We have full discretion to cancel a trial with no refund if you are over 85kg on arrival. Please make sure to complete the manifest indicating your weight category and riding experience after you have completed the payment.
*You are encouraged to bring carrots or apples to thank your trusted steed.
